A word about ADS-B
If you're flying below 17,999 and in US airspace, you need:
A 978-MHz UAT (Universal Access Transceiver) - We offer many cost-effective choices to meet the minimum requirement.
OR - if you are below 17,999 feet but may be flying outside US Airspace in the future: A 1090-MHz Mode S ES (extended squitter) transponder combined with a certified GPS navigation source (such as WAAS GPS) is required.
If you're flying above 18,000 feet and/or outside of US airspace, you must have:
A 1090-MHz Mode S ES (extended squitter) transponder combined with a certified GPS navigation source (such as WAAS GPS)
The GOOD NEWS: The cost of ADS-B "IN" and options such as WiFi and Weather is decreasing.
What does Extended Squitter mean?
Answer: Extended Squitter refers to the greater amount of automatic and periodic data sent from the aircraft without prompting from the pilot or without a request from ATC.
